Handel, developed by Handel Laboratories Limited (“Handel”, “we”, “our”, or “us”), is a lightweight email categorisation and mailbox handling app that enhances your Gmail experience by adding labels to your emails. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the data access and how we use it. Our privacy policy is drafted to ensure compliance with the Google API Services User Data Policy.
By using Handel, you authorise us to access your data under the terms set forth in this policy. Please read the following carefully. If you do not agree, please do not use Handel.
When you connect your Google Account to Handel, you provide Handel with access to your Gmail mailbox in order for us to provide our service. Handel accesses your Gmail emails and label information to perform its email categorisation function, and your Google profile email/name to identify and serve your account. We do not collect any data from your device outside of the Google data mentioned, and we do not access any information from your Google Account that is not explicitly listed and authorised by you. We do not store the full content of your emails; only necessary metadata and the generated label.
Handel uses the data obtained only to provide or improve the features of our service.
For email labelling, Handel sends email data via Google’s Gemini AI API for processing.
We may send email data to Google for processing. As per the Google data usage policies, Google will not use the content of the API to improve their products. Google will handle this data in accordance with their own Privacy Policy. We commit to Google’s Limited Use requirements.
Handel is hosted in the Cloud. We employ industry‑standard safeguards—such as encryption in transit and at rest, strict access controls, and regular security reviews—to protect your information. While we strive to maintain robust defenses, no system is entirely immune to risk, and we cannot promise absolute security.
We store only the relevant email metadata necessary to operate our categorisation features and the AI-generated label. The full content of your emails is not stored. Your basic profile information is stored for account identification and to provide service delivery.
You have complete control over the data you provide to Handel. You can revoke Handel’s access to your Google Account at any time by using your Google Account’s security settings.
Handel is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently obtained personal data from a child under 13, we will promptly delete that information. If you believe we may have collected such data, please contact us so we can address and remove it immediately.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the “Last Updated” date above. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy regularly. Continued use of Handel following changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
